A Semester in the Darkroom

12/9/2020

This semester I had the opportunity to take a class about film photography darkroom techniques. The main focuses of this class were developing film and creating prints in the darkroom. Going into this semester, I had already been photographing on film for around 5 years, and had some experience making silver-gelatin darkroom prints - but I had never developed my own film before. My understanding of the medium has increased so much this semester, as has my love for it, because of learning the delicate methods of film-developing. Here are my best images from the 12 rolls of 35mm black and white film I shot this semester, and my best prints I made in the darkroom on silver-gelatin paper.

Cameras used: Canon A-1, Canon FTb QL
Film stock:
Kodak Tri-X 400
Kodak T-Max 400 & 100 & 3200
Ilford Delta 400 & 100
